Whitewater Kayak Expedition Intern - Nepal Multi-River

Paddle365 is looking for a developing whitewater kayak guide to offer the opportunity to join an established trip that is being ran by Paddle365 in partnership with Big Smile Nepal, the Adventure Specialists.

The role is to assist Paddle365 head coach Jamie Greenhalgh in delivery of our Nepal Multi-River Expedition, working closely alongside our in-country partners to provide a life changing whitewater holiday for our clients. This is a 2 week trip beginning from November 6th 2022. You will get the inside track on the inner workings of delivering this product, real life coaching and guiding experience with particular focus on customer care, and feedback to help you continue your journey as a professional river guide.

This role is designed for someone based in the UK who is serious about a career in whitewater kayak coaching and guiding, but is not established within the industry already. We want this to be THE experience someone needed in order to take the next step into working as an advanced whitewater river professional.

You will be asked to:

- Assist with leading groups on rivers up to grade 4.

- Assist with the development of the clients on the trip through on-water coaching and development conversations.

- Assist with river camp management.

- Assist with health & care needs of customers.

Applicants should be well on their way as developing whitewater kayak coach/guides, but do not necessarily have to be one already. They should be a solid grade 4 paddler, able to assist in the care of others in the moderate and advanced whitewater environment. They should be an experienced hand in travel and outdoor adventure, comfortable with independent travel and supporting those who are not used to this. Experience of Nepal is desirable but not compulsory.

This role would be ideal for someone who is working toward the British Canoeing Advanced White Water Kayak Leader Award, or has it but is now looking to develop the skills and confidence to begin using it effectively. Someone who will have completed the AWWKL Training and be registered for assessment by the time this trip will depart on November 6th 2022 would be highly desirable.

This position is an internship, the payment for which will be the sum of the intern's working expenses while carrying out this trip, the value of which is estimated to be approximately £1200. This is to be seen alongside the individual development opportunity offered, the value of which will depend on how the successful individual uses their role to maximise their own personal development.

If you think that you'd be perfect for this position, and that this position would be perfect for you as a developing whitewater kayak coach and guide, please apply via email at: info@paddle365.co.uk

In your email:

- Explain where you are in your whitewater kayaking leadership development pathway.

- Explain why you would be an asset to our team on the trip.

- Feel free to ask any questions about the arrangement that you have.

Application deadline April 30th, after which point we'll hope to have the decision finalised by May 14th. Applicants should be at least 18 years old.
